While this cake won't win any beauty pagents it will steal the show on the dessert table. The cocoa-marshmallow layer turns into a rich, gooey frosting that makes this cake irresistible.

ingredients

1 package chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare
2 cups miniature marshmallows
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 cups hot water

directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 baking dish or cake pan.

Prepare the chocolate cake batter according to the directions on the package. Set aside.

Combine the mini marshmallows, brown sugar, cocoa powder, and hot water in a bowl. Stir just to combine. Pour into the prepared pan.

Evenly spoon the cake mix on top of the marshmallow mixture but do not stir the layers together.

Place the pan in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.

Remove the pan from the oven and let cool in the pan for 15-30 minutes.

When the cake has cooled, place a cookie sheet upside down on top of the pan. Carefully flip the pan and sheet over so the cake turns out onto the cookie sheet. It will be gooey.

Serve immediately. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
