Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

ingredients
1 package (9 ounce size) devil's food cake mix, RESERVING
3 tablespoons devil's food cake mix
1/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
2 teaspoons instant coffee granules or crystals
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup water
1 egg
TOPPING
reserved devil's food cake mix
2 tablespoons quick-cooking rolled oats
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon margarine or butter
directions
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray or grease a 8-inch square pan and set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine cake mix, graham cracker crumbs, coffee and cinnamon, mixing well. To remaining cake, combine mixture, water and egg. Pour into sprayed pan.
To reserved cake mix mixture, add oats and brown sugar, mixing well. With pastry blender or fork, cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over top of batter.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 18 to 22 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly in center. Cool for 30 minutes or until completely cooled.
