ingredients
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg, separated
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour
1 cup chopped nuts
colored sugar
directions
In a large mixing bowl, combine butter, sugar, egg yolk, vanilla extract, flour and half the nuts. Blend well.
Spread in an ungreased 15" x 10" jelly roll pan. Beat egg white until frothy and spread over bars. Sprinkle with remaining nuts and colored sugar.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly and cut into bars.
