ingredients
2/3 cup solid vegetable shortening
2 1/4 cups packed dark brown sugar
3 eggs
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans
1 package (6 ounce size) chocolate chips
directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Melt shortening and stir in brown sugar. Cool slightly.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt, then add to sugar mixture. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.
Spread in a greased 15 1/2" x 10 1/2" x 1" jelly roll pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. When almost cool, cut.
