Milky Way Bundt Cake
- add review
- #88748
A wonderfully rich cake with the addition of melted Milky Way candy bars. Make sure to use a large Bundt pan or it will overflow as this makes a big cake.

ingredients
10 (2.1 ounce size) Milky Way candy bars
1 1/3 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease and flour a 12-15 cup Bundt pan to within an inch of the top of the pan. It is very important not to grease and flour clear to the top; it will run over, make an awful mess in your oven, and the cake will fall.
In the microwave or the top of a double boiler, melt 7 of the Milky Way candy bars with 1/2 cup of the butter. Stir until smooth, and set aside to cool.
In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and 1/2 cup of the softened butter or margarine until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Add the flour mixture and buttermilk alternately to creamed sugar mixture, ending with the flour mixture. Stir in the cooled candy mixture and vanilla until well blended.
Pour the mixture into the prepared Bundt pan and bake at 325 degrees F for about 60 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in cake comes out dry. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes in the pan then invert onto a plate.
Melt the remaining 3 Milky Way candy bars with 3/8 cup butter or margarine. Pour glaze over top of the cake, and let it run down the sides. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

Disaster!! I should have read the first comment before trying. I followed the directions to a "T" and my cake has been in the oven for an hour and is still oozing over the sides and middle looks like soup. Maybe this recipe makes 2 cakes? Yikes!
I was going to give this a try, as it sounds good. But the previous comment made me think twice. Maybe less butter and fewer candy bars?
Tried the recipe twice. Cake overflowed the pan both times. After 1 hour cooking time, cake was nowhere near done. Just a liquid mess in the pan. Any idea to fix the recipe?
