ingredients

8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 package (1 pound size) powdered sugar
5 cups sliced fresh peaches
1 package (15-18 ounce size) yellow cake mix
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup stick butter, cold

directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Combine the powdered sugar and cream cheese in a mixing bowl. Beat on low speed for 1 minute then increase the speed to medium and beat until the mixture is creamy.

Place the peaches in the prepared baking dish. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the peaches.

Pour the cake mix into a bowl and break up any chunks with a fork. Sprinkle the mixture over the cream cheese layer. Sprinkle the cake mix with the cinnamon.

Cut the butter into small bits and sprinkle them over the top of the cobbler.

Place the baking dish in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes or until the peaches are tender and the topping is browned.

Remove the cobbler from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream. The cobbler can also be cooled to room temperature before serving.

common recipe questions

Can I use canned or frozen peaches? I can't always get good fresh peaches where I live.

Yes, canned or frozen will work. Frozen peaches should be well thawed before using. Both canned and frozen peaches will need to be very well drained before using because they contain more liquid than fresh peaches. Canned peaches won't need as much cooking time so just cook until heated through and the topping is browned. Frozen peaches should use about the same cooking time as fresh peaches.
