Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.

This version of cola cake is different because it uses brown sugar instead of white sugar in the cake which makes the cake a little more moist.
Cake
1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 pinch salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup cola, at room temperature
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Frosting
1/4 cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
1/3 cup cola, at room temperature
4 cups powdered sugar
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
Sift the flour, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together into a large bowl.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add the eggs, oil, cola, buttermilk, and vanilla to the well and stir until the batter is smooth.
Transfer the cake batter to the greased baking dish. Place the cake in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 40-45 minutes or until the cake tests done.
Let the cake cool to room temperature on a wire rack.
For the frosting, combine the butter, cocoa powder, cola, and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Beat on medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Frost the cooled cake.
Store the chocolate fudge cake in an airtight container.

cake turned out fantastic, icing not so well....think the quantity of powdered sugar or butter may be off, but I didn't have time to tweak it....never got to a "fluffy and smooth" consistency, was like spreading cold peanut butter
