Bratwurst With Caraway Kraut

ingredients
4 fresh bratwurst
3/4 cup beer
1 small onion, chopped
1 teaspoon packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon caraway seed
1 can (8 ounce size) sauerkraut, undrained
4 bratwurst buns, split
directions
Brush grill rack with vegetable oil. Heat coals or gas grill for direct heat.
Arrange bratwurst in single layer in square microwavable dish, 8 x 8 x 2 inches. Add beer and onion. Cover with plastic wrap, folding back one corner to vent. Microwave on HIGH 5 minutes. Turn over and rearrange bratwurst. Re-cover and microwave on MEDIUM-HIGH (70%) 3 to 4 minutes or until bratwurst are no longer pink in center. Discard beer and onion.
Grill bratwurst uncovered 4 to 5 inches from MEDIUM heat 12 to 15 minutes, turning once or twice, until brown.
While bratwurst are grilling, mix brown sugar, caraway seed and sauerkraut in 9-inch round aluminum foil pan. Cover pan with aluminum foil, sealing edges securely. Add to side of grill for last 10 minutes of grilling, stirring once, until hot.
Serve bratwurst on buns with sauerkraut mixture.
