Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
Cheese-Bacon Finger Sandwiches

ingredients
1 loaf bread with crust removed
1/2 pound shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 pound fried bacon, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1 package (small size) sliced almonds
1 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
black pepper, to taste
directions
Mix together cheese, bacon, onion, almonds, mayonnaise, Worcestershire and pepper.
Spread mixture onto slices of bread and then cut into thirds. Place onto foil covered cookie sheet. May freeze until ready to cook.
Cook uncovered at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes.

I had a formal Tea Party for my daughter's baby shower. This tea sandwich was a huge hit. My granddaughter just turned 1 year old and I am still getting compliments on this sandwich.
