Chewy Fig Granola Bars

ingredients
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup salad oil
1/2 cup honey
1 cup crisp cereal
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup finely chopped almonds
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1 cup dried figs, finely chopped

In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, oil and honey. Bring to a boil over medium heat, simmer about two minutes.
Preheat oven to 325F.
In a large mixing bowl, combine all remaining ingredients, except figs, stirring with a spoon or with mixer dough hook. Stir in sugar mixture until well blended. Add figs. Press mixture firmly into an ungreased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
Bake 20-25 minutes until toasty brown. Cool. Cut into narrow bars.
