ingredients

1 pound ground beef
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
2 cans (14.5 ounce size) green beans, drained
1 bag (16 ounce size) frozen mixed vegetables
1 can (10.75 ounce size) cream of mushroom soup
1 tablespoon dried onion
1/4 cup milk
1 bag (32 ounce size) frozen Tater Tots
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

directions

Grease the inside of the crock pot.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring, until browned. Drain off any excess grease. Add the salt, pepper, green beans, mixed vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, onion, and milk. Mix well.

Add the frozen tater tots to the crock pot. Pour the beef mixture over the tater tots.

Cover the crock pot and cook on high for 2 hours. Sprinkle with the cheese then cook for 30-45 more minutes or until the cheese is melted.

  1. Jcali REVIEW:

My family loves this!! I usually lines the bottom and the sides of the crockpot all the way to the top. Then I pour the mixture of beef and vegetables in the middle. Sometimes we add some hot-sauce to our own portions, seems weird, but tastes delicious! Will make over and over!

  2. picky hubby REVIEW:

My husbands super picky. He loved it! I will split the tots next time for texture.

  3. Vera REVIEW:

First attempt at tatertot hotdish in a crock pot turned out pretty well. I only changed one thing and that was to bake the tots that go on top and put them on during the last hour of cooking so they had a crisp texture. Oh and I turned the crock to high during the last hour as the other review suggested. My kids loved it!

I put half the tater tots in the bottom of the crock and reserve the rest. When the meal is almost done I cook the reserved tots and put them on top. You get the bottom tots mixed in for more flavor but have the crunchy tots on top.

  5. DJ JAZZY JEN REVIEW:

The first time I made this I followed the directions. It was good but the tater tots got all mixed into the rest of the ingredients so they weren't really noticeable. And my kids love tots so they wanted them in their dinner. The next time I made the recipe except put the tots in the oven and put the rest of the ingredients in the crock. Put the browned tots on top and cooked as directed then put the cheese on top of the tots. The kids and I all liked that way better.

  6. Kate REVIEW:

Made this tonight and it is yummy! Did it a little different, in that I put some onions in when I browned the beef, and a can of green beans instead of frozen vegetables. I would also suggest giving it an hour or two on high heat, or at least with my slow cooker I did. It was creamy, rich, it didn't have cheese in it but tasted like it did. Really filling and satisfying.
