ingredients

1/3 cup milk
1/3 cup water
1 egg
1/2 cup shredded Gruyere or Swiss cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened and cut up
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
2 3/4 cups bread flour (unsifted)
1 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast

directions

Have milk and water warm (can microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds). Add ingredients to bread pan according to your manufacturer's instructions.

Set on sweet cycle with crust setting as desired. Remove bread promptly from pan. Cool on rack before slicing.

    One of the few recipes that have worked in my bread machine. I made this without cheese. It does make a rather small loaf--so make 2!
