ingredients
2 cups Froot Loops cereal
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional
ORANGE ICING
2 cups sifted powdered sugar
2 tablespoons orange juice
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
directions
Crush cereal into fine crumbs. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Beat shortening, butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and orange juice; beat well. Add dry ingredients and cereal crumbs. Mix thoroughly.
Drop by level tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees F for 12 minutes. Frost with Orange Icing.
For Orange Icing: Mix sugar, butter and enough juice for smooth icing or spreading consistency. Frost cookies. May decorate with Fruit Loops.
