- add review
- #88695
ingredients
2 large ripe pears, such as Bartlett, Bosc, or Anjou
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground white pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup walnut pieces, chopped and toasted
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 tablespoon butter, melted
1/3 cup crumbed Gorgonzola cheese
directions
Toast pecans in large fry pan. Set aside.
Peel pears, if desired. Cut in half and core. If needed, slice about 1/4 inch from rounded sides to make pears sit flat in baking dish.
Bake in a buttered baking dish (9 x 13-inches) at 450 degrees F., for 15 minutes. Remove from oven. Turn pears over and sprinkle with salt, white pepper and nutmeg. Bake 10-15 minutes longer or until soft and lightly browned.
Meanwhile, combine walnuts, brown sugar and melted butter in a small bowl, stirring to coat nuts. Top pear halves with walnut mixture and cheese. Broil pears 5 1/2 inches from heat until cheese melts.

Pizza night is always a favorite, especially when you have great tasting pizza from some of the most popular restaurants.
The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

This is a really unusual combination of flavors but somehow it all worked. One of those recipes that might not sound good when you read it but when you try it the flavors all just work and it's delicious. I followed it exactly even though I was hesitant to add the white pepper - that sounded like the weirdest addition to me, but it was fine.
