Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons butter, softened
4 medium pears, cored, peeled and sliced
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ginger
whipped topping, if desired
Stir flour, baking powder and salt. Beat 1/2 cup sugar, egg and butter until smooth. Blend in flour mixture.
Place pear slices in greased 8" square baking pan. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Stir 1/3 cup sugar, 2 Tbs. flour, cinnamon and ginger. Sprinkle over pears and toss.
Drop batter by spoonfuls over pears. Bake at 375 degrees F for 35-40 minutes, or until topping is crisp and brown. Serve hot or cold with whipped topping, if desired.

This was a great quick and easy recipe! I tried it as a last-minute dessert and it turned out perfectly. It might be a stretch for 6, but perfect servings for 4.
