It may look like a pizza, but don't be fooled. With a sugar cookie crust and a maple cream cheese topping, this creation is dessert all the way. Use your favorite fruits to change it up.
serves/makes:
ready in: under 30 minutes
ingredients
1 package (16.5 ounce size) refrigerated sugar cookie dough 1 package (8 ounce size) low-fat cream cheese, softened 1 tablespoon maple syrup fresh fruit 20 strawberries, hulled and sliced 3 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced
directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 12-inch pizza pan.
Form the sugar cookie dough into a ball. Place the cookie dough ball in the center of the greased pizza pan and spread the dough out into a circle using your hands or a rolling pin. The dough should be about 1/2-inch thick.
Place the pizza pan in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 12-14 minutes or until it is lightly browned. Remove the pan from the oven and let cool.
Meanwhile, place the cream cheese in a mixing bowl. Beat on medium speed with an electric mixer for 1-2 minutes or until fluffy. Add the maple syrup and beat until incorporated, about 1 more minute.
Spread the cream cheese mixture on the cookie crust. Arrange the fruit as desired on top of the cream cheese layer. Slice with a sharp knife or pizza cutter and serve immediately.
Fun Tip: Arrange the kiwi slices around the outer edges and the strawberries in the middle. Sprinkle with a few chocolate chips to make it look like a watermelon.
Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.
It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).
