ingredients

1 tablespoon ammonia
1 tablespoon Ivory liquid dish detergent
1 quart hot water

directions

Combine the ammonia, dish detergent, and hot water in a jar or spray bottle. Mix well.

To use, test for colorfastness first by cleaning a test patch in an out-of-the-way area of the carpet.

Apply the spot cleaner using a sponge or spray directly on the stain. Scrub and then blot with a clean tea towel until the stain is removed. Repeat as needed.

I can't believe it, but this worked. My dogs tracked a TON of mud in. I had scrubbed off as much as I could but I was out of my usual cleaner. This worked great. I won't be buying carpet cleaner anymore, I'll be making my own!
