ingredients

16 ounces sour cream *
8 ounces cream cheese *
2 cups shredded monterey jack cheese *
1 1/2 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
1/2 cup taco sauce PLUS"PLUS" means this ingredient in addition to the one on the next line, often with divided uses
3 tablespoons taco sauce
jalapeno pepper slices (optional)

* low fat versions can be substitued

Blend sour cream and cream cheese in blender or food processor until smooth but not runny. Pour into 8" x 8" pan. Drizzle 1/2 cup of taco sauce over the cream cheese. Layer with lettuce, tomatoes and then cheese. Drizzle reamining 3 Tbsp of sauce over cheese. Garnish with jalapeno pepper slices if desired. Refrigerate until served. Serve with tortilla chips.
