- #43223

1-2 hrs
ingredients
1 bag (12 ounce size) wide egg noodles
4 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 stick margarine, melted and slightly cooled
1 can (20 ounce size) sliced apples (not pie filling)
3 cups unsweetened apple sauce (not chunky or natural-style)
1 cup sugar or sugar substitute
1 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Topping
1/3 cup corn flake crumbs (See Note)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
directions
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
Boil noodles in lightly salted water 8 minutes, until barely tender. Rinse under cold water and drain well.
Combine remaining kugel ingredients in large mixing bowl. Add noodles and mix thoroughly. Pour noodle mixture into prepared baking dish.
Combine topping ingredients. Sprinkle evenly over kugel. Bake one hour until kugel is set and top is lightly browned. Cool 5 to 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
Cover and refrigerate leftovers; eat within 2 days.
NOTE: Corn flake crumbs can be found near the bread crumbs in many grocery stores. You can crumble corn flakes by hand, but the texture won't be as fine. You also can grind corn flakes in the food processor.
