When it comes to making a tasty rum punch, there's no need to overcomplicate things - less is definitely more. Just a few simple ingredients are all that's needed to make this refreshing drink.

6 cups pineapple juice
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1 fifth rum
7-up or Sprite
ice, optional
Combine the pineapple juice and sugar in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and let cool completely.
Combine the pineapple juice mixture, lemon juice, and rum. Place in a large, freezer-safe container and freeze overnight or until slushy.
When ready to serve, fill individual glasses half full with the pineapple mixture then top off with 7-Up. Stir gently. Serve over ice if desired.
