The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

ingredients
1 1/4 cup soap flakes
2 tablespoons borax
1 tablespoon powdered pumice or fine sand
directions
Mix together all the ingredients. Place in a clean container with a tight fitting lid.
To use, scoop out a small amount and mix with warm water to form a lather and clean the hands. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
NOTE: You can make your own powdered pumice by smashing a bit of pumice stone with a hammer. Place the stone in a thick plastic bag to keep it clean and all the small pieces together. Pound until the pumice is the size of fine sand or table salt.
