Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

Received this recipe for a church function and now I use it for any large group cooking get together. Very easy, serve with a salad, garlic bread and you have a great meal for a large group. Also, I use turkey Italian sausage instead of the pork sausage, and Garden Style Chunk Ragu spaghetti sauce for the vegie appeal. Using the LARGE jars of spaghetti sauce, you can cut down on the sauce as the size jars are not specified. Thanks for posting as I lost the recipe!

Added mushrooms and garlic, only because my family loves them. I tasted it before it went into the oven, since I won't be home when its done, it was really good. I'm sure it will be better when its baked. Really easy to make also!
