Great recipe! We call these "Aunt Betty Beans" because she always made them for our family reunions. I've never seen this recipe anywhere else before today.

what can I substitute for molasses

    • You should be able to substitute any of the following: honey, dark corn syrup, or maple syrup.

I add the sour cream during the end. I just drizzle the molasses on and mix it up then stir in the sour cream during the last hour as I don't like dairy ingredients cooked more than that in the crock pot. The beans get very nice and tender cooking in the crockpot.

  4. TIA REVIEW:

I like the molasses flavor so I used 3 tbsps of it and reduced the brown sugar a little bit.

    Excellent recipe!

THis is WONDERFUL. It isn't a pretty dish of beans because they will be thick but the taste makes up for that. If you are looking for a wonderful new kick to a plain bean this is the recipe for you.
