Garam masala is a spice blend originating from India. It adds a warm spice flavor to the smoky grilled flank steak.

1 1/2 tablespoon garam masala
1 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 pound flank steak
Combine the garam masala, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Place the flank steak in a shallow dish. Rub both sides of the flank steak with the garam masala mixture. Let the steak stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Preheat the grill to high heat.
Place the meat on the grill and cook for 5 minutes per side or until tender. Remove the steak from the grill and place on a cutting board. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing across the grain.
