ingredients
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground veal
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 dash black pepper
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
2 tablespoons flour
1 can (10.5 ounce size) condensed beef broth
2/3 cup water
6 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
6 medium carrots peeled and quartered
6 green onions cut in pieces
salt and pepper, to taste
1 package (10 ounce size) frozen peas thawed and broken up
directions
Cook onion in 1 tablespoon butter until tender but not brown. In a bowl combine ground beef, veal, 2 tablespoons flour, 1 teaspoon, dash pepper, egg and milk. Beat with fork thoroughly till light and fluffy. Add onion and form in to 1 inch balls.
Brown meatballs lightly in 1 tablespoon butter over medium heat. Remove meatballs from skillet. Blend the 2 tablespoons flour in to butter in skillet; add beef broth and water. Cook, stirring constantly, till mixture bubbles and thickens.
Add potatoes, carrots and green onions. Sprinkle vegetables lightly with salt and pepper. Return meatballs to skillet. Cover skillet; reduce heat and simmer till vegetables are tender, about 30 to 35 minutes. Add peas; cover and simmer 5 minutes longer.

I have made this dish many times. My family liked it. Hamburger is an inexpensive way to make this stew like dish. It is hearty and rich tasing. The meatballs are to die for.
