Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

6 Golden Delicious apples
1 cup orange juice
2 pieces (3 inch size) cinnamon sticks
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup brandy
directions

Great as an accompaniment to pork, ham, or poultry, or as a dessert.

So simple and excellent side to ham. Put in Mason jar with nice label as gift to hostess.
