30-60 minutes
ingredients
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/4 cup raisins
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/4 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 1/4 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
Sprinkle the nuts and raisins in the bottom of the greased baking dish. Sprinkle with some of the brown sugar.
Place a layer of half of the apples over the nuts. Sprinkle with half of the remaining brown sugar. Repeat the apple and brown sugar layers.
In a mixing bowl, beat the butter until fluffy with an electric mixer on medium speed. With the mixer running, add the sugar slowly, scraping down the sides as needed. Add the egg with the mixer running and mix until incorporated.
Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together. With the mixer running, add the flour mixture slowly to the butter mixture alternating with the milk until the batter is smooth.
Pour the batter over the apples in the baking dish.
Place the dish in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes or until the batter is set.
Remove the pan from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Invert the baking dish onto a serving plate so the apple side is up.
Serve the apple pan dowdy warm with ice cream or whipped cream.
