Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

Being from New Orleans, just about every dish we prepare has rice. My granny's dressing is made with white rice, 4 sticks of butter, eggs and anything else she has in the kitchen. I came across this recipe when looking for a "healthier" alternative. I prepared the recipe as written but also added some spices with a kick. I was super pleased with the results!
