Delicious tuna served with refreshing cucumber and a sauce made with sesame oil, sherry, ginger, soy sauce, green onions, and wasabi. Garnished with spicy radish sprouts.
4 pieces (6 ounce size) fresh tuna
3 tablespoons peanut oil
1 1/2 teaspoon (dark) sesame oil
1 tablespoon dry sherry
1 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
1/2 cup radish sprouts, or other spicy sprouts
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1/3 cup soy sauce, low sodium
6 tablespoons fresh ground wasabi
1 large cucumber, seeded, peeled and julienned
Whisk together soy sauce, 2 Tbsp. of the peanut oil, sherry, sesame oil and ginger. Stir in green onion. Set aside.
Sprinkle tuna with salt and pepper.
Heat remaining peanut oil in a heavy large skillet over high heat. Add tuna and sear until opaque in center, about 3 minutes per side.
Spoon cucumber onto center of plates. Top with tuna. Add the ground fresh wasabi to the sauce and spoon sauce around the tuna.
Garnish with radish sprouts.

So, I thought the idea was good, but could use slight tweaking. I didn't use the radish sprouts (didn't know what they were, where to get them, and I don't like radishes, so it made them unappealing). So, I thought this would turn out into a nice, fancy salad that you might see at a nice restaurant. Sure enough, IT DID!!!! The sauce was a perfect dressing, the tuna was PERFECT!!! I put it on a bed of mixed greens, sprinkled some cherry tomatoes around it, was going to use the cucumbers on it (just forgot), but it was absolutely wonderful. I did use horseradish instead of wasabi because it was hard to find and expensive when I did find it, but I didn't think it made a difference in how it tasted. This was the type of recipe I'd see in a fancy restaurant, it was incredibly easy to make, and it tasted incredibly good as a salad. Would make this again!!!
