1 gallon cider vinegar
3 cups water
1/4 cup salt
2 tablespoons red pepper flakes
3 tablespoons black pepper
2 tablespoons crushed red pepper
1 cup dark brown sugar
Combine all the ingredients in a large, non-reactive bowl and mix well to dissolve the brown sugar. Cover the bowl and let sit at room temperature for 4 hours before using.
Use as a baste when grilling chicken.
Store leftovers in a non-reactive container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
