The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

ingredients
1 head cabbage, shredded
1 green bell pepper, chopped
2 medium sweet onions, chopped
1 carrot grated (for color)
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup salad oil
1 cup vinegar
2 teaspoons celery seed
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 tablespoon salt
directions
Combine cabbage, green pepper and onion in a large bowl.
In a saucepan, combine all other ingredients and bring to a boil.
Pour sauce over cabbage mixture. Do not stir. Refrigerate at least 12 hours.
