Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.

Want brownies in a jiffy? This microwave version cuts down the baking time without cutting down the rich chocolatey flavor you know you're craving.
2/3 cup butter, at room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup chopped nuts
powdered sugar or frosting, if desired
Coat a 9-inch microwave-safe baking dish or pie plate with non-stick cooking spray.
Combine the butter, sugar, and brown sugar in a microwave-safe mixing bowl. Beat on medium speed with an electric mixer until combined. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until blended. With the mixer running on low speed, add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix until just combined - do not over mix the batter.
Stir the nuts into the batter by hand. Spread the batter in the prepared baking dish. Microwave on 100% power for 5-7 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. If the microwave does not have a turntable, rotate the baking dish 1/4 turn every 2 minutes.
Remove the dish from the microwave and cover with waxed paper. Let cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Remove the waxed paper and let the brownies cool completely before frosting or slicing. Store the brownies in an airtight container.
Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.
Ranking #1 in nearly every "favorite cookie" poll, the chocolate chip cookie is pretty much the go-to cookie of choice for both kids and grownups alike.
Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

These were the most delicious brownies I have ever made! I was looking for a quick-prep dessert, and this fit the bill exactly. The preparation was fast and easy, and taste was perfect--moist and chocolatey. Highly recommended. In fact, I'm going to make this recipe again this weekend for company.

Not very brownie-like. More like a cake. Also not very chocolatey. The brown sugar overpowers this recipe. The cooking and cooling directions gave this a nice texture though.
