The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
Cranberry Fig Bars

ingredients
1 package (12 ounce size) fresh cranberries
1 cup snipped dried figs
6 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups oats
1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup melted butter
Lemon Glaze
1 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
directions
Combine cranberries, figs and honey is a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until cranberries pop, stirring often. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Stir in melted butter.
Put half of this mixture into the bottom of an 9 x 13 x 2 inch baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 8 minutes.
Remove from oven and spread cranberry fig mixture on top of baked layer. Sprinkle remaining oat mixture evenly on top and pat gently. Return to oven for 20 minutes until golden. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
For Lemon Glaze: Combine powdered sugar with lemon juice. Drizzle over top of bars.
