ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 tablespoon flour
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 medium green pepper, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
2 tablespoons snipped parsley
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon red pepper sauce (optional)
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 bay leaf
1 dash ground thyme
1 1/2 cup water
1 can (8 ounce size) whole tomatoes
1 1/2 cup uncooked instant rice
directions
Cook and stir ground beef in 10-inch skillet until light brown; drain. Sprinkle beef with flour and salt.
Stir in green pepper, onion, parsley, pepper, pepper sauce, garlic, bay leaf and thyme. Cook and stir over low heat until onion is tender, about 5 minutes.
Stir water and tomatoes (with liquid) into beef mixture; break up tomatoes with fork. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 5 minutes.
Stir in rice; remove from heat. Cover and let stand 5 minutes.
