Asparagus And Crab Strata

ingredients
1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
12 slices white bread
8 ounces Cheddar cheese, shredded
1 package (9 ounce size) frozen asparagus cuts in pouch, thawed and drained
6 ounces flaked crab meat
8 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
4 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
directions
Heat oven to 325 degrees F.
Spread margarine on one side of each slice of bread. Arrange half of the slices, margarine side down, in ungreased 13-by-9-inch baking dish.
Layer cheese, asparagus and crab over bread. Place remaining bread slices, margarine side up, over crab.
In large bowl, combine remaining ingredients and beat well. Pour egg mixture evenly over bread. Let stand 10-15 minutes.
Bake in preheated oven 55-65 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
