This egg-free eggnog cuts through the unnecessary steps and goes right for what really matters: ice cream and liquor. Some fresh-grated nutmeg adds a little sophistication.

2 pints vanilla ice cream, thawed
1/2 cup rum, cognac or bourbon (or more if desired)
freshly ground nutmeg
directions
Combine the ice cream and rum in a pitcher and mix well.
To serve, pour the eggnog into glasses and sprinkle with freshly ground nutmeg.
