Easy ham steak with pineapple, honey, rum, and orange juice

2 pounds fully cooked ham center steak about 1-inch thick
2 oranges, juiced
1 can (8 ounce size) pineapple tidbits, drained
1 tablespoon rum (optional)
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 pinch ground ginger
1 pinch ground cloves
1 pinch ground cinnamon
Brown ham steak in a skillet.
Meanwhile combine orange juice and cornstarch and stir until blended. Place mixture in a saucepan and add brown sugar, rum, honey and spices. Heat until mixture starts to thicken. Add pineapple and continue stirring.
Spoon over ham steak and serve.
The sauce is thick and rich and sweet and is perfect with the smoky ham. Enjoy!

This was a quick and easy dinner. I went without the rum, mainly because I didn't have any in the house. The orange juice, honey and spices made for a different and delicious sauce. I'd recommend going with a low sodium side dish. The ham steak is going to provide your daily salt allowance, for sure!
