Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Look for the miniature pretzels or small square ones for this recipe. You can also use larger pretzels that are broken in halves or quarters. This makes a great snack mix that's ready in only a few minutes time.
1 bag (15 ounce size) pretzels
1/2 cup oil
1 envelope Ranch salad dressing mix
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
Combine the oil and ranch dressing mix in a large bowl. Stir in the pretzels and continue gently stirring until they are completely coated with the oil.
Remove the pretzels from the bowl with a slotted spoon and spread evenly on a cookie sheet. You can drizzle any remaining oil mix in the bowl over the pretzels if desired.
Bake the pretzels at 300 degrees F for 15-20 minutes. Let cool before serving.

I know this is such a simple recipe and there are so many variations on it, but it really made a great snack to have out before one of our recipe testing events. So simple to make and can be made ahead. I only used half the ranch dressing mix however as that was more than enough to give it flavor without making it a sodium-fest. Mix well in a bowl then remove to a baking sheet using a slotted spoon - that way you won't get too much extra oil along with the pretzels.
