ingredients
5 fresh bratwurst links
1 teaspoon butter
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 can (14 ounce size) sauerkraut
5 slices Swiss cheese
5 hoagie rolls (dark rye), split
REUBEN SAUCE
1/3 cup Thousand Island salad dressing
1/3 cup coarse-ground dry mustard
directions
Cook bratwurst according to package directions, then keep warm.
In a foil pan on grill grate or in a medium saucepan on the stove, melt butter over medium-low heat; add onions and saute until caramelized to a light, golden brown.
Warm sauerkraut in a separate pan until heated through.
In a medium bowl, combine sauce ingredients and stir until blended.
Spread about 2 tablespoons of sauce on each roll, then add cheese, onions and a brat. Top with sauerkraut and serve warm.
