Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

I really wanted to use challah in this but my store didn't have it so I had to use King's Hawaiian bread. I think I would have liked the texture of challah better. The flavor was delicious though but I'm going to only make this again when I can find challah.
