Think of this as pizza without all the work. The meat, cheese, and sauce are topped with a mock pizza crust giving you pizza flavor in casserole form.
1 1/2 pound ground beef or bulk sausage
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 jar (15.5 ounce size) pizza sauce
2 teaspoons garlic salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
pepperoni slices
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Brown the ground beef, onion, and bell pepper in a skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
Add the pizza sauce, garlic salt, and oregano to the skillet. Mix well.
Line the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish with pepperoni slices. Pour the beef mixture over the pepperoni slices. Sprinkle the top with Mozzarella cheese.
Combine the eggs, milk, oil, salt, and flour in a bowl and whisk until smooth. Stir in the Parmesan cheese. Pour the mixture evenly over the cheese layer.
Place the baking dish in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until the topping is browned and the filling is bubbly.
Serve hot.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

I love this recipe because you get pretty close pizza flavors without having to deal with dough! My kids love it and since it's called "pizza" they consider it legitimate pizza for pizza night. Win win!

Turned out great! My pickiest eater was the first to finish in record time. Gave it an enthusiastic 2 thumbs up. It was also fun to make with the kids - several parts that they can do with very little instruction or supervision (ages 7-9). Will make this again.
