This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.

Mmmm! Comfort food! This recipe is made with ground beef, onion, fresh mushrooms, flour, beef broth, and sour cream and is served over noodles.
2 tablespoons butter
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 pound sliced fresh mushrooms
1 pound lean ground beef
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill or parsley
hot cooked noodles
Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring, for 3-4 minutes or until it is softened.
Add the mushrooms to the skillet and cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, stirring and breaking up the meat, for about 5 minutes or until no longer pink.
Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle the flour over all and stir for 1 minute to incorporate.
Stir in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let cook until thickened, about 3 minutes.
When the sauce has thickened, remove the pan from the heat and stir in the sour cream until mixed.
Return the pan to the heat and stir and cook just long enough to heat the sour cream. Do not let it simmer. This should only take about 30-45 seconds.
Sprinkle the hamburger stroganoff with dill or parsley and serve immediately over hot cooked noodles.

It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

This is quite good as written but a bit bland. It would benefit from an extra tablespoon of flour since the gravy is a bit too runny. Next time I will try adding a little Dijon mustard (which is a standard ingredient in most stroganoff recipes). I will also use a combo of red wine and beef broth for more depth of flavor. Try serving this with mashed potatoes or noodles along with a side of kosher dill pickle slices. Odd as it sounds, the pickles really go well with the stroganoff.

Finally a simple stroganoff that doesn't use canned cream soup! This was excellent!

I like the comment about this tasting "uptown." There was something different about it and that would be how I would describe it too. It wasn't as saucy or creamy as I've typically had. Just a limited amount of sour cream, too. Quite good!

I needed a last minute recipe for beef stroganoff that didn't have any canned soup in it. This recipe was exactly what I was looking for. It's very easy and turned out perfect. The sauce was the right consistency and it had a lot of really good flavor.

We have looked for years for a quick hamburger stroganoff recipe that tastes "uptown" and this fits the bill! It was tasty, not too starchy, and very nice with the dill sprinkled on top just before serving. I used dried dill weed and it made this dish taste a little more interesting than without it. I liked that I could use what was on hand in a pinch and we have decided to print this one because we certainly will use it again soon. I am very pleased!

This recipe is fantastic, I used a little cornstarch to thicken to my preference. also I used chives rather than parsley.

Excellent! Made this without onion as I'm pregnant and can't stand it or garlic. I used some red wine I had in the kitchen and fresh mushrooms. I sauteed the mushrooms, set them aside, browned and drained the ground beef, returned the mushrooms to the pan, added 2 Tbs of red wine, 1 1/2 C chicken broth, 3 Tbs flour, and the salt and pepper. Later, I used plain regular yogurt in lieu of sour cream. It was excellent!

It was an easy to prepare recipe, however I could not get it to thicken up as much as I'd have like it to. Cooking times also seemed to be off - it took my onions less time and more time after I added the flour to try to get it to thicken up. Maybe if the pan was drained after cooking the beef, the extra grease wouldn't keep it from thickening up. The flavor of this recipe was delicious!

I tried this recipe about a month ago and we loved it. It is not complicated to make if you have even basic cooking skills and turns out rich and very flavorful. I much prefer it to other recipes I've tried that use canned soup and such. I had a computer crash last week and lost my bookmark for this and just spent 20 minutes looking through google hits to find it again, it was that good!
