Orange Sherbet Salad

ingredients
1 can (11 ounce size) mandarin orange sections
1 package (6 ounce size) orange gelatin
2 cups boiling water
1 pint orange sherbet
directions
Drain oranges, reserving syrup. Measure syrup and add enough water to make one cup. Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Add reserved liquid and stir. Add orange sherbet by spoonfuls, stirring until melted.
Place in refrigerator until slightly thickened. Fold in mandarin orange sections.

This is great! I always add an extra can of mandarin oranges. I've been making it for 30+ years and have never served it to anyone that didn't like it. The Joys of Jello!!!

My mom used to make this same salad and it was a family favorite. Her only addition to this was to add a squeeze of lemon juice to the water, to cut the sweetness just a tiny bit. It is a great recipe!!!!!!
