Cheesy Raisin Beer Bread

ingredients
2 cups beer
1 package (15 ounce size) raisins
5 cups sifted flour
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
3 eggs, well beaten
2 1/2 cups American cheese, grated
2 cups walnuts, chopped
directions
Heat beer to boiling and pour over raisins. Let stand until cool and raisins plumped.
Mix flour with sugar, soda, salt and nutmeg. Stir in beer and raisins, eggs, grated cheese and walnuts. Mix well.
Spoon batter into 2 greased 9 x 5-inch loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Serve warm or cold with butter, cheddar or cream cheese.
