ingredients
3/4 cup boiling water
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
3/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1 cup raisins
2 1/4 cups applesauce
3/4 cup butter
3 1/4 cups flour
2 1/4 cups dark brown sugar
1 cup walnuts
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons baking soda
3 eggs
directions
Mix boiling water with raisins; set aside. Cream together butter and brown sugar. Add salt, eggs and spices, mixing well.
Stir in applesauce, flour and walnuts. Add baking soda to the raisin mixture. Combine spice mixture and raisin mixture.
Pour into oiled 9-inch spring form pans and bake at 350 degrees F for 30-40 minutes until toothpick comes out clean.
If desired, frost with a thin powdered sugar milk frosting.

I baked this in a 9x13 pan for 50 minutes and it turned out very well. Very moist, flavorful cake.
