Soft, sticky saltwater taffy is as fun to make as it is addictingly tasty. This recipe makes a classic vanilla flavor, but you can add in your own colors and flavors to pull whatever taffy strikes your fancy.

2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cup corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup whipping cream
butter
powdered sugar
Cook ingredients over medium heat in a large pan until sugar dissolves. Add whipping cream to mixture and cook to firm ball stage.
Pour onto a buttered plate and cool until cool enough to handle.
Butter hands and pull taffy until it loses its glossy color. Cut with scissors and roll in powdered sugar. Wrap in pieces of wax paper.
You can add a few drops of food coloring if desired.
