Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.

Just three ingredients in this popular crock pot recipe: fresh mushrooms, butter, and ranch salad dressing mix. You'll be surprised by how delicious these mushrooms are and how simple they are to make in your crock pot.
1 pound fresh mushrooms
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 envelope Ranch salad dressing mix
Clean the mushrooms but leave them whole. Place them in the crock pot.
Combine the melted butter and Ranch salad dressing mix. Drizzle it over the mushrooms.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 3 to 4 hours, stirring once after the first hour to coat the mushrooms in the butter mixture.
Serve the ranch mushrooms hot.
For a healthier version, use a low-fat or light butter substitute.
Add a sprinkle of fresh herbs like parsley or chives.
If you prefer a stronger Ranch flavor, add an extra half envelope of the dressing mix.
If you have leftovers, use them as a filling for omelets or as a topping for baked potatoes.
For a bit of heat, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the butter and Ranch mixture.
Experiment with different mushroom varieties for a mix of textures and flavors.
If the sauce seems too thick, a splash of chicken or vegetable broth or even white wine can be added.
Serve with crusty bread to soak up the delicious buttery sauce.
Any fresh mushrooms can be used, but white button or cremini mushrooms are good choices due to their size and flavor.
It's best to use fresh mushrooms for this recipe as they have the right texture and moisture content. Rehydrated mushrooms work better in dishes where they aren't the main ingredient.
Ranch salad dressing mix is a blend of herbs and spices used to make Ranch dressing. It's available in envelopes in the salad dressing aisle of most grocery stores.
Yes, you can make a homemade mix instead of buying it.
The mushrooms are done when they are tender and have absorbed the flavors of the butter and Ranch mix, typically in 3 to 4 hours on low heat in the crock pot.
It's not recommended as high heat can cause the mushrooms to become too soft or mushy. Low and slow cooking is ideal for this recipe. If you need to cook them faster, try cooking them for 30 minutes on high and then on low for 2 hours.
Serve them hot as a side dish, appetizer, or as a topping for steaks, burgers, or chicken.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat gently in a microwave or on the stovetop.
Freezing is not recommended. Mushrooms become spongy after freezing.
Crock Pot: For cooking the mushrooms in the butter and ranch dressing mix.
Bowl or Container: For mixing the melted butter and ranch salad dressing mix.
Mixing Spoon: For thoroughly mixing the melted butter with the ranch salad dressing mix in the bowl before drizzling it over the mushrooms.
Clean Cloth or Paper Towels: For cleaning the mushrooms prior to cooking, making sure they are free of dirt and debris.
Garlic Bread: Serve these mushrooms alongside buttery garlic bread. The garlic and herbs will enhance the earthy flavors of the mushrooms and provide a nice texture contrast.
Grilled Chicken: Pair these ranch mushrooms with grilled chicken. The savory ranch seasoning complements the chicken, while the mushrooms add an extra layer of flavor.
Steak: These mushrooms can be a rich side dish for a grilled steak.
Pasta: Toss the cooked mushrooms into a warm pasta dish. Their flavor can enhance a simple garlic and olive oil pasta or a creamy sauce.
Burgers: Use these mushrooms as a gourmet topping on burgers.
Rice Pilaf: These mushrooms can be combined with rice pilaf for added flavor.
Omelets: Use the ranch mushrooms in omelets or scrambled eggs. Their flavor can brighten breakfast by adding savory, herb-infused richness.
Dipping Sauce: Serve these mushrooms with a side of ranch dip for an extra kick.
Crostini: Spread the mushrooms over crostini for a quick appetizer. The combination of the crunchy base and the buttery mushrooms makes for a yummy bite.
Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.

Wow these were delicious!!

I didn't expect these to be quite as good as they were. I highly recommend doubling or tripling the recipe if you have a full size crock pot. We couldn't stop eating them!

I use two pounds mushrooms, 1/4 C butter, and dry Italian dressing mix, instead of Ranch, reserving several teaspoons to mix with drained mushrooms before serving. Cook in crock pot on High for four hour. Totally delish and great with steak.

Love this recipe. I serve over steaks! So delicious. I will also add an onion and then roast spaghetti squash and serve this over the top of the squash and add a little parm cheese as a meatless main dish. Family loves it

Made these tonight after finding on pinterest. Paired with some slow cooker ribs - oh my GOSH these were amazing! New family favorite - will absolutely be making again.
I think this would be great with a touch of Worcestershire in it.

Excellent as written but the way I now fix them most of the time is to use 1-1/2 pounds of sliced mushrooms with the same amount of butter and Ranch mix. Cook on low for 2-1/2 hours. They're always a huge hit to top steaks and hamburgers. Since most of the liquid gets drained off to eat, I think the butter flavors nicely without ingesting the extra calories.

My husband and I thought they were just ok. Something that has that much butter in it needs to be darn good (which it wasn't) to be worth the calories.

I made this for my family to serve with Christmas dinner. To say they loved them is an understatement. I made 2.5 pounds and they were gone, could have made twice as many. No one believed there are only 3 ingredients!

This was amazing! I did what another person suggested and cut butter in half and cooked in the oven at 300 degrees for 30 minutes... SO good!

I cut the butter in half and they were more than delicious with half the butter. I also have done these in the oven 300F for 30 minutes and they turned out really well.

I made this for Christmas eve and with a separate group for New Years ever. It got rave reviews at both functions. Every time I shared the recipe they were so surprised. I am making it again for a party tonight even though I know some of the same people will be there from New Years, but I guarantee there will be no complaints! LOVED it...Thanks for sharing!

Easy, inexpensive, and everyone loves it.

I made these for Christmas Eve and even my niece who doesn't like mushrooms couldn't stop eating them. Very easy and very good. Just like Lays Potato chips you can't eat just one.

After I put in the butter and ranch mixture I took a little taste and good golly miss Molly!!! Now I am watching the pot boil if you will...I have no doubts this is gonna be a family favorite!!

Omg I love mushrooms and this is no exceptions... delish!
As to butter, I don't think you need a full 1/2 cup -- use less or perhaps some EVOO to replace some of the butter. The mushrooms should have a lot of moisture in them, especially if you wash them with water first. The butter does add a richness and flavor that is delicious.

ADDICTIVE!

Regardless of what you think about using mixes like ranch dressing mix, you really should try this recipe at least once. I guarantee that you'll make an exception! I needed a last minute recipe and had all the ingredients on hand. I have to say I'm now a HUGE fan of what an unexpected ingredient can do. Good luck not eating them all yourself. Double, no, triple, the recipe because the mushrooms will be gone instantly. Good enough for guests and even picky eaters will eat it.

These are so good! I was unsure about the ranch dressing mix but it makes them so good. Although I'd say that one pound wouldn't serve 6, it's more like 4 at the most. And you'll want to quadruple the recipe just because you won't be able to stop eating them. AMAZING!

These mushrooms are melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Buttery and flavorful and perfectly tender.
July 24, 2013
I've seen this recipe on the site for a while but never thought it sounded that great but decided to try it anyway because I wanted something with mushrooms to do with our dinner. I was blown away by how good it turned out. The mushrooms are delicious! And the recipe is so easy.
April 28, 2013
Made these for an extended family potluck. They were a smash hit! I used 3 lbs mushrooms, 1 cup butter and 2 pkgs ranch. There was plenty of flavor without tripling the sauce.

Smash hit on Easter Sunday!! Doubled the recipe with no problems. Two pounds of mushrooms was just to the top of my 2.5qt slow cooker. I also sautéed some mushrooms and they did not go over like the slow cooker mushrooms did!
do you use the o.4 oz. salad dressing one or the 1.0 oz. dips one? thank you
I just tripled this recipe, hope it turns out! Fingers crossed :)
Sound amazing but all the butter... Any ideas for a substitution?
I'm usually not to write reviews but I've got to tell you these things ROCK!!!! Absolutely loved them and was super easy!!!
