As classic-o as it gets. Spaghetti and meatballs is a failsafe way to impress a date (or a family), especially with a nice glass of wine. If you really want extra credit, go for a homemade pasta sauce.
Meatballs
1 pound ground beef
1 tablespoon bread crumbs
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1 small onion, chopped
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup olive oil
1 jar (16 ounce size) pasta sauce
8 ounces spaghetti pasta
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Combine the beef, bread crumbs, parsley, oregano, pepper, garlic, onion, and egg in a bowl. Mix well. Form the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a plate. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes or up to 24 hours.
When ready to cook, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook, turning as needed, until lightly browned on all sides. Drain off any excess grease.
Gently stir the pasta sauce into the skillet. Bring to a simmer then reduce the heat to low. Let the meatballs cook for 25 minutes or until cooked through.
Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti pasta as directed on the package. Drain well and place in a serving bowl. Top with the meatballs and sauce. Garnish with Parmesan. Serve immediately.
