It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

These popular cheese and garlic biscuits from Red Lobster are perfectly easy to make and delicious to eat. Use Bisquick or your favorite baking mix (or make your own) and freshly grated cheddar cheese for best results.
2 cups Bisquick baking mix
2/3 cup milk
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Have an ungreased baking sheet ready.
In a large bowl, beat together the baking mix, milk, and cheese until the mixture forms a soft dough.
Drop the dough in about 1/4-cup size dollops onto the ungreased baking sheet. Do not place them too close together.
Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake at 450 degrees F for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
Mix together the melted butter and garlic powder. Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Brush the tops of the biscuits with the garlic butter then serve while they are still warm.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or up to 2 days.
Do not overmix the dough to keep the biscuits tender and flaky.
For a stronger garlic flavor, add a pinch of garlic salt or minced fresh garlic to the dough.
Add a sprinkle of shredded cheese on top of the biscuits before baking for an extra cheesy crust.
Try different cheeses and herbs to create different version.
Try adding cooked and crumbled bacon to the dough for a savory twist.
Serve the biscuits warm for the best taste and texture.
For a sweeter version, add a touch of sugar to the dough, omit the garlic, and serve with honey butter.
Bisquick is a pre-mixed baking mixture typically used as a shortcut for making biscuits, pancakes, and other baked goods. You can also use another brand such as Jiffy, Pioneer, or Martha White. Or, a homemade baking mix substitute.
Freshly grated cheddar cheese works best but you can substitute Colby, Monterey Jack, Gouda, or even Parmesan cheese.
Brushing the biscuits with garlic butter adds garlic flavor and helps to keep them from drying out.
Handle the dough as little as possible to prevent overmixing, which can lead to tough biscuits. Also, make sure to not compact the dough too much when shaping the biscuits.
You can freeze the unbaked biscuits on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer them to a freezer bag. Bake from frozen, adding a couple of extra minutes to the baking time.
To reheat leftover biscuits, wrap them in foil and warm them in a 350 degree F oven for about 10 minutes, or until heated through.
You can add herbs like parsley, thyme, or rosemary, or spices like paprika or cayenne pepper to the dough.
Large Mixing Bowl: To combine the baking mix, milk, and shredded cheddar cheese into a soft dough.
Measuring Cups: To accurately measure the Bisquick, milk, and cheese (and butter if you are not using stick butter).
Measuring Spoons: For measuring the garlic powder.
Baking Sheet: To place the dollops of biscuit dough for baking in the oven. An ungreased baking sheet is specified in the recipe.
Pastry Brush: For brushing the melted garlic butter mixture one the tops of the biscuits after baking.
Spoon or Ice Cream Scoop: For dropping the dough onto the baking sheet in equal size dollops.
Tomato Basil Soup: Enjoy the biscuits dipped into a warm bowl of tomato basil soup.
Chicken Salad: Crumble the biscuits over a simple chicken salad for added texture and flavor.
Caesar Salad: Use the biscuits as a side to a Caesar salad. The garlic and cheese in the biscuits echo the flavors of the dressing.
Shrimp Scampi: Pair with garlic shrimp scampi for a double dose of garlic goodness.
Mussels Marinara: Serve these biscuits alongside another Red Lobster favorite. The biscuits are perfect for sopping up the savory white wine tomato sauce in this copycat mussels marinara recipe.
It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).
What's the secret ingredient in these cakes? Pudding mix. It not only adds flavor but it gives the cake a richer, creamier texture. No one will know your secret ingredient!

Or you can just buy the RED LOBSTER Biscuit Mix at Walmart for $2.29 and add some cheddar cheese and like I do, some shredded imitation crab meat!!

I now have tried this recipe twice and both times it was great. Needed a bit more milk to make it just right like a splash more. Melted butter with fresh garlic the first needed something more. Second time same thing plus garlic powder. You be you own judge.Because we love butter and garlic. I did extra butter too😉!

Love these!!!! Perfect recipe

I can't believe I waited so long to try these biscuits. I've had the recipe bookmarked forever and always see it shared on Pinterest. Just made them last night and loved them! Super easy, very tasty, and I think they are quite like I remember from Red Lobster (haven't been there in years though).

Tried these last night and they were awesome! I used things I had on hand like Mexican cheese blend instead of cheddar and half and half for the milk and added a bit of dried parsley (about 1 tsp). Will definitely make again. We needed something to go with Spaghetti and these were really the right choice. This gets 5 stars from our household.

Perfection. This is the best recipe by the way.

I make these almost once a week now. They are super easy to whip up and the whole family likes the biscuits. They go with a lot of different dishes too so it's just an easy side bread to serve. My daughter likes to make little sandwiches with the biscuits cutin halves.

I love this recipe. I've made these biscuits numerous times and they are always good. To me they are better than RL's. They are very easy to make and they make good leftovers too. They're not exactly like RL biscuits but they are similar to them and delicious.
December 12, 2013
Very good and close to RL. I add some chopped parsley to the mix.

If these don't turn out for you, your Bisquick mix is bad. It has a limited shelf life. Beyond that, these are foolproof. I always use whole milk. Great excuse to heat up the oven on a cold day!
November 17, 2013
very good and yummy! It is very similar to the red lobster biscuits and I couldn't stop eating them! :)

I'm with everyone else, these are just like RL! The only thing I didn't do was "beat vigorously", I just mixed it until fully mixed. I was afraid that overbeating it would make the biscuits too dense. I used real butter not margarine and fresh garlic as recommended (simmered it in the butter over very low heat before basting the biscuits). Super easy to make too and goes with any meal. Has anyone tried freezing these? I'm wondering how to best reheat them (I think they'll freeze fine just not sure how to reheat). Would I brush the butter on after reheating?

These are exactly like Red Lobster's biscuits. We love these!

These are exactly like Red Lobster. If they don't turn out for you to be just like RL, then it's your problem not the recipe. I have made these three times now and they turn out each time and taste just like RL.

This was a GOD-AWFUL RECIPE!! 1.) the biscuits tasted nothing like the red lobster biscuits. They didn't have the flavor or fluffy texture that red lobster biscuits had. It was a crying shame I was forced to waste my time making these monstrosities. I had leftovers and they ended up in the garbage. 2.) I've tasted way better biscuits.
July 1, 2013
These are exactly like Red Lobster - exactly! They are my favorite! Honestly, it's the only thing I like at Red Lobster so now I can make them at home instead of going and battling the crowds.
September 27, 2012
These are very easy to make and my family loves them. They are very good.
April 19, 2012
Kudos to a great recipe! Even better than I remember from Red Lobster's biscuits.
February 22, 2012
These are dead-on the same as Red Lobster. My 6 year old niece always wants to go to Red Lobster because she likes their biscuts. Since it is rather pricey I told her we would try this recipe at home. She was absolutely thrilled that they were just like the real thing.
January 21, 2012
These were a big hit tonight for supper. I think next time I'll use double the cheese like others have mentioned.
August 11, 2011
I had a friend that managed Red Lobster. He told me the secret is their scampi sauce on top of the biscuit. I made the bisquick with red lobster scampi and it was the closest I have come to perfect.

This is an AWSOME Red Lobster Biscuit recipe! My boyfriend LOVES them. After making them once I made them about three times in one weekend for my family and my boyfriend. This is a family favorite now! I recomend using garlic salt with the butter for brushing the tops of the biscuits. You can use about 1/4 of a teaspoon of both in the 1/4 cup of butter. Trust me it's not too much! Love this recipe.
February 6, 2011
Mine were not as fluffy, the seemed rather dense, what do you beleive i did wrong?
Went to Red Lobster last night have been eating these biscuits for years from Bisquick. Red Lobsters are different, ask waiter, was told there was oyster sauce in the butter topping will try that next time.
November 30, 2010
Loved them! This recipe was super easy and very delicious. Husband loved them. The only thing I did different was triple the cheddar cheese. 1/2 cup definitely would have not been enough! There were no left overs!
May 14, 2010
I made these last night--same recipe that's found on the Bisquick box. I also used garlic salt instead of garlic powder in both the mix and the butter. I live in house full of men--with my 5y/o being the picky eater and my biggest critic. He hesitated to taste them, but when he did, he kept coming back for more. Yummy, yummy, yummy!
May 11, 2010
Fantastic recipe! Just like Red Lobster. The first time I tried this recipe it didnt not come out great but then I tried it again and they came out fantastic! I think its because I used smaller scoops. Def. delicious!
i was really dissapointed in this recipe. We ate at Red Lobster last week and couldn't get enough of their delicious biscuits. I followed the recipe listed here to the letter and the results were only fair. These biscuits do not come close to tasting like the Red Lobster biscuits

I think these biscuits are very, very good my boyfriend loves them, but I agree they need more cheese and garlic salt definetly works better for the taste, mmm good . gonna make some today with baked potato cheese soup goes well together and enjoy the 18 inches of snow with it
Recipe works really well when done gluten free. I just used my own flour mixed with shortening for the bisquick baking mix. My husband loves it when I make these because he can't eat the biscuits they serve at Red Lobster.
December 25, 2009
The recipe needs salt
November 16, 2009
Tastes perfect only the temperature is too high...burned the bottoms of the first batch. Decreased temp by 50 degrees and added 4 mins. Too happy!
August 6, 2009
You should know, I normally DO NOT cook or bake, at all! But I made these biscuits myself, they were so easy, so fast & tasted just like the ones from the restaurant!!
July 29, 2009
Threy were delish! I thought these were spot on! They also satisfied my craving for Red Lobster biscuits and saved me from eating 100's of calories by eating their other food. I also liked that I could use lowfat milk and I cant believe its not butter. Great recipe!
March 30, 2009
These biscuits were fantabulous! We made a couple changes, such as adding the garlic salt to the biscuit dough before cooking, and using just the powder in the butter mixture. We also would double the cheese. Yummy!
March 24, 2009
These are really tasty,(4 1\2 stars)! My batch just came out of the oven. They are very light and flaky, but are different from the Red Lobster biscuits. The biscuits from Red Lobster are more crumbly, but the flavor is very similar. I added dill (1\2 tsp) to the butter sauce and a sprinkle to the dough. I may try them again with whole wheat flour, or just as is. Thanks for the recipe, they are as delicious as they are fattening!
hmmm..i work at red lobster too and whenever i get a chance i sneak one of these bad boys but its only fair since i don't ever break. The recipe is somewhat close and yes they do mix a garlic powder package that mite or mite not include garlic powder, parm cheese and parsley into some rich imatation butter and slather that goodness on them suckers after they come out the oven. the biscuit mix is also premixed so only water and cheese is added but by all means use milk and as much cheese as heart desires
March 15, 2009
the amount of milk needed is posted on the back of the bisquick mix box...excellent recipe! The taste and texture are exactly like the ones at Red Lobster!
November 29, 2008
While these biscuits were really awesome they weren't exactly like the ones from Red Lobster. Ones from Red Lobster usually crumble more. I also think there was one more herb they were missing but I'm not sure what. I'd have to eat at Red Lobster again to find out^^. But they still taste really great.
I do remember what Red Lobster biscuits taste like, but it was not this so I added to the melted butter 1/4 t. old bay seasoning, 1t. parsley and 1/2 t. italian seasoning and it was about as close as I could get it,
September 19, 2008
AMAZING! i LOVE these biscuits!
September 2, 2008
I added more cheese than it calls for and also I added some parmesan cheese to both the dough and the butter topping too. Amazing I'd have to say :)
June 15, 2008
These are wonderful!! I actually make the biscuits put them on a cookie sheet with wax paper then freeze them. Once frozen I put them in a zip lock bag and now my family has homemade biscuits even when I forget to start the bread maker earlier in the day. I usually just cook them at whatever temperature I am cooking my other food and just keep a eye on them.
March 22, 2008
I need to give 6 out of 5 instead of just 5. I added garlic power onto the mix since I love extra salty biscuit than normal. I did exactly what the recipe said, except I doubled up the recipe portion! My husband and I love it. We add it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Surely, I printed out the recipe and it is permanently in my recipe box now! We just loved it!
February 15, 2008
Great Recipe!!! I made these for Valentines Day and they were a big hit. I'm the type of guy who burns mac and cheese so if I can make it, anybody can. I think they would be incredible paired with a Lobster Bisque or other seafood soup.
January 16, 2008
I love these biscuits! They are very easy to make. I use the low fat Bisquick and double the amount of cheese this recipe calls for. I've made these since than and have never had any leftovers.
December 14, 2007
Made this for a potluck party, my coworkers gobbled them up and requested that the next event to make them!!!!!!
The green herb you see in them is dill. They are cheddar/dill biscuits.
October 8, 2007
I tried this recipe, and it was sooooo good! I added a little bit more cheese, and i think i might try the parsley in their next time, but other than that, fabulous! Tastes just like red lobster!
August 4, 2007
yes, add your desired amount of parsley flakes to each biscuit...
April 17, 2007
Great recipe! Taste just like red lobster.
February 13, 2007
Yummy recipe! They taste just like Red Lobster's biscuits. I added parsley flakes (to the butter & garlic powder topping) because I'm positive that this recipe is missing that one ingredient...otherwise this was great! Wonderful when served warm.
i work at red lobster, and i can tell you that, it's not a package mix on top of the biscuits. it's just butter sauce. :X (those things are terribly bad for you. eating 1 biscuit is equivalant to eating a snickers bar.)
August 20, 2006
Mmm, good stuff and sooo easy to make. I'm gonna try garlic salt next time.
The actual butter topping is a pkg mix that does contain the dried parsley which is dumped in to a container of the the imitation butter. Other that milk isnt used its water. They are similar though happy baking
What about the little green seasoning? There's no mention of it and I definitely saw it the last time I ate the biscuits at Red Lobster. I'm guessing it's a small amount of very finely chopped parsley added to the dough, maybe even dried parsley......
February 7, 2006
These are great but you need to make some minor adjustments if you want them to really taste like the red lobster biscuits. I used 3 cups of shredded cheese, believe me the more the cheese the better they taste, plus I added some garlic salt to the mix, as well as garlic salt in the butter mixture, the garlic salt is much better than the powder as it doesnt leave that bitterness garlic powder can. sprinkle some cheese on top as well. And keep a close eye! they cook quickly.
January 7, 2006
This is a great recipe. We had a party and these were a big hit. Everyone thought they tasted just like Red Lobster biscuits.
January 4, 2005
These were wonderful and so simple and fast to make.
November 19, 2004
Ok- So I don't really remember what Red Lobster tastes like (hints to all the husbands out there!) but this recipe is so good! The garlic butter on top is super yummy! And talk about easy- it's more difficult to clean up the mess than to make it!
November 9, 2004
Very Good! I also added a bit of onion and garlic powder to the biscuit mix, as well as a little more cheese.
