1 pie shell (homemade or store-bought)
2 pints strawberries
GLAZE
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
6 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
pinch ground cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar
1 pint strawberries, PLUS"PLUS" means this ingredient in addition to the one on the next line, often with divided uses
8 mashed strawberries
1/4 teaspoon red food coloring
whipped cream for garnish

Bake pie shell; set aside. Wash, hull and dry strawberries.
For Glaze: In a saucepan, put water, 1 cup sugar, cornstarch, 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring and cinnamon; stir to blend. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook, stirring, for 1 to 2 minutes, until thick.
In a microwaveable dish, blend 1/2 cup sugar with mashed strawberries and 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring; cook for approximately 2 minutes in microwave, then add to glaze. Set aside.
Arrange whole berries in concentric circles in cooked pie shell. Cut remaining berries in half or quarters to fill in spaces. Spoon cooked glaze over berries. Refrigerate to store. Serve with whipped cream.
